Vadim Cojocov is the new Technical Director at the rapidly growing St. Louis Stars Soccer Club. He was born in Moldova to a Russian dad and spent his childhood in Ireland learning the game. Most importantly he learned to not wear an English Beckham jersey to a “south Dublin” public school. Vadim talks about his path and experiences and the influence it all is having on his new role in helping mold and grow the Stars moving forward. And yes... he's actually a model.

Today’s guest was a personal friend slash favor for my substitute carpool cohost, AJ Cochran. Robbie Kristo goes all the way back with AJ to their early Busch days, to SLU, abroad, and back! We had a blast going over his travels, the competition, and they dropped some insight for young kids looking to make that leap to the pro’s and beyond!

Six degrees of separation here on Soccer Mom Sunday - probably less for many of us! The name “Champion" is practically synonymous with St. Louis Soccer. Host Jennifer Siess from Mine to Define was joined by Tim and Thom Champion. If you have played soccer the Lou, chances are that you’ve encountered at least one of these twins on a pitch somewhere, sometime, in some way. Tim and Thom each had their own timeline in playing soccer from youth through college. With backgrounds in education, each turned to the coaching side of the game in youth play with their “Champ Camps”, along with high school and college. Listen in for memorable stories, along with their wisdom and perspective from watching The Beautiful Game continue to grow in popularity and opportunity in the US.

Dueling For Lincoln is not only a heartbreaking cause, but now doubles as a TST 7v7 alum. I was joined by Tim Koppel, Tim Menzel and Bill Stimac the coach and captains of the team. With a first round sweep of teams that included Bayern Munich & Dortmund, the fellas talk about the experience, the vibe, and the type of players that find success on this team… which included a plumber that notched one vs. the German Legends. Check out Dueling for Lincoln on instagram to follow their story and prepare for next years return visit! Let’s go!#duelingforlincoln #soccer #TST #STLMADE

In order to impress a true Futbol (Soccer) loving Brit, we had to do this one at Amsterdam Tavern! Tony Husband was an absolute hammer, bringing incredible stories, perspective, insight, and an accent to this episode. Born/raised in Plymouth England to journalistic parents, his career behind the mic was somewhat pre-determined... his transplant to Nashville to cover the MLS was not!

Soccer greatness on Soccer Mom Sunday! Host Jennifer Siess from Mine To Define was honored to sit down and chat with Lori Chalupny (Lawson). Her creds are almost too many to list - USWNT, 2015 World Cup Champion, 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist, former pro soccer player. As a Senior at the University of North Carolina, she started all 23 games she played in, scoring 10 goals with eight assists and finished her college career with 30 goals, an impressive number from the midfield, helping them to a 23-1-1 record in her final college season for the second year in a row, and First-Team All-ACC for the third year in a row. From her humble start on the youth competitive scene with JB Marine and Nerinx High School, Lori can reflect on her journey with a unique perspective. Listen in for her down-to-earth conversation about how things were in the Women’s Game, how they’ve grown, what she now tries to impart on her college athletes, and how she’s choosing to Soccer Mom her own little ones as they explore their fun in The Beautiful Game.

"Catching up with Coach" on this Soccer Mom Sunday! Host Jennifer Siess from Mine To Define caught up with Deborah (Kehm) Washburn, her former coach. Tune in for an emotional story of the love for The Beautiful Game that had to start later for Debbie as a player - because it WASN’T AVAILABLE for her as a St. Louis youth in years preceding Title IX. But, she’d eventually find a team, proceed to play competitively, and TWICE win the National Women’s Over-30 division of the USSF Open Cup, coached by her mentor, Bob Kehoe, SLU and USMNT. Like so many in soccer, Debbie did the grind - educating students at STL’s Ritenour, while getting her Coaching A license, and building the winning program at Lindenwood University (that started with “Help Wanted” signs looking for players) - she earned NAIA “Coach of the Year” and was honored in LU’s very first Sports Hall of Fame inductee class.
